Scientific Copyediting

Scientific copyediting is concerned with, addition to normal copyediting, the general standards of scientific writing: the objectivity of the style, appropriate diction and phrasing, correct handling of sources und citations, logical composition of the text etc.

On the other hand, technical copyediting places a stronger emphasis on the technical particularities of a text, be it form or in content.

Given that most scientific texts are written within an academic framework, in this context we are also usually talking about academic copyediting. However, because almost all scientific texts are, moreover, ascribed to a specific subject or field, a strict delineation between scientific copyediting and technical copyediting is difficult. So one can often speak of technical copyediting or scientific technical copyediting.
