What Happens in a Translation Revision?

Have you done a translation or had one done for you? And now you are looking for a professional proof-reader or copyeditor to proof-read your translation? Then we are the right people to go to.

Incidentally: we also correct machine translations. However, machine translations are usually so bad that we need to charge the normal translation rate for them.

Types of Translation Revision

We offer several types of translation revision by native speakers:

  • Correction of your translation without comparing to the original text. In this case, we can check your text with regard to spelling, punctuation, grammar and style. We can optimise it for search engines and perform any other form of editing.
  • Correction of your translation including comparison with the original text. This form of translation revision is often called translation copyediting: we go through the original and the translation line by line and check if the translation is correct, if any parts of the text were forgotten, and if the diction adequately reflects the style of the original.
  • Adaptation of your translation. In this case we copyedit the text extensively and adapt it to the mentality of the new culture and target language. You can find out more about adaptation here.
